In 1960 John H. Anderson with a background in office machinery and parking meters formed Anderson's Parking Meter Service and contracted with the City of Collingwood for maintenance of that Council's Parking Meter System. From this simple beginning, the Company, which was renamed in 1964 to Reset (Aust.) Pty. Ltd., has extended its parking control activities to other Cities and Shires in Victoria and then throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Area.

In 1977 Reset was appointed as Australian Distributor and Service Agent by P.O.M. Incorporated of Russellville, Arkansas, USA, the World's largest parking meter manufacturer and today Reset has strong business association with Cities and Municipalities in all States operating Parking Control Equipment.

In recent years the activities of the Company were extended into the area of "Pay and Display" parking. Reset can now offer both simple and functional equipment, together with the more sophisticated Electronic Machines that can, if required, be interfaced with a computer for collection and storage of information and statistics. Equipment distributed is of USA, British and Swedish origin, as well as the Company's own Australian manufacture.

Reset's long involvement in the Parking Meter business has given a depth of understanding of the many aspects that is perhaps unequaled by any other Organisation in this Country. The maintenance of this expertise for assistance to our many customers is of primary importance and it is for this reason that the Company is now an active Member of the Institutional and Municipal Parking Congress, which has international affiliations and meets annually in the United States of America. John has been a Member of the Board of Advisers of this body since 1985, the only non-American ever to be appointed to this Board.

As a result of his expertise in the field of Parking Meters, John Anderson was in 1984 appointed as the P.O.M. Corporation Technical Adviser in the Asia / Pacific areas. The activities of Reset now extends to consultants in all matters related to Municipal Parking in addition to Supply and Service of equipment.

1987 saw Reset start their representation of Cincinnati Parking and Access Control Systems that enabled us to successfully complete projects from major Government facilities to large public car parks, shopping centres and private buildings.
Reset became the largest International distributor of Cincinnati products due to our trained technicians and available spare parts that enabled us to provide full back up service to ensuring our clients a minimum inconvenience and therefore maintain a fully operational system. Cincinnati sold their parking division in 1993 to a competitor company who was already represented in Australia and so began the search for a new supplier.

Alfia Services Ltd. stood out and since their founding in 1988, Alfia Services have gained an enviable reputation for quality and service. Following many visits to Alfia and contacting many of their installations, we were satisfied that Alfia equipment meets our strict requirements. Following extensive training of Reset personnel at Alfia's U.K. office, we became their sole Australian representative for their equipment, including:

• Fully Automatic Systems
• Pay on Foot
• Pay at Exit
• Pay at Cashier
• Network Systems
• Pay & Display Systems

The introduction of Multi-bay parking meters becoming an accepted part of Reset's product range the need for high security and greater capacity coin vaults while providing a more aesthetically pleasing streetscape were required. This led to Reset developing the "Koala" Parking Pedestal.

Several thousand Parking Pedestal units have now been produced by Reset and are exported around the world with installations in countries including Canada, USA, Israel and Korea.

Reset has come a long way from its humble beginning in 1964, and John Anderson can look back with pride at the achievements of his Company. Although, knowing John, he will also be planning the next thirty years in the business of Parking.
